Alford recognized Darren Guidry and Carl Chauvin as present at the meeting.

and ratify the minutes of the Regular Committee Meeting dated

Under
Public, there was no one wishing to address the board.
Under
Commissioner’s Request of Discussion, Mr. Daisy pulled this item until a future
meeting.
Under Executive Director’s
Report, Mr. Zeringue discussed a breech in the Montegut levee. The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources
has expressed interest to help cost share the section of the levee that has
been eroded due to wave action. The TLCD
would like to use in-house equipment and shore up the area with dirt and rock
material.
A motion was offered by
Commissioner Willis Henry, seconded by Commissioner Moore, motion carried,
agreeing to use in-house manpower and equipment to repair this section of the
levee, subject to the LA DNR agreeing to fund this repair.
Mr. Zeringue asked the board to
authorize Resolution No. 08-436 for additional appropriation of property and
provide legal notice on certain tracts for the Upper Ward 7 Levee Project in
Chauvin.
A motion was offered by
Commissioner Luke, seconded by Commissioner Leward Henry, motion carried,
authorizing Resolution No. 08-436 to appropriate additional property for
certain tracts along the Upper Ward 7 Levee Project in
Mr. Zeringue briefed the board on
the Morganza to the Gulf project. The
Under Engineering Updates, there
was nothing to report.
Under President’s Report, Mr.
Alford spoke about Governor Jindal’s visit along with Garret Graves (Governor’s
Office of Coastal Activities). He spoke
of encouraging news from the Governor and his staff. They assured of continued progress and the
commitment from both the Governor’s office as well as the office of the new
Terrebonne Parish President, Michel Claudet.
Everyone expressed the desire to move forward to build this
project.

Mr. Zeringue noted that Mr.
Garret Graves is committed to coastal restoration and intends to provide as
much support here in Louisiana for this project as he did while working in
Washington, DC. He expressed sentiments
of optimism and is looking forward to working with Mr. Graves to implement this
project.
There
being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by
Commissioner Luke, seconded by Commissioner Moore, unanimously carried, to
adjourn the March 10, 2008, Regular Meeting of the Terrebonne Levee and
Conservation District at 6:23 o’clock
